Alana Smith
Secretary, Newsletter Editor, Fun Day Organiser and Committee MemberOur involvement with the Birthmark Support Group came as a result of our son, Theodore, being referred to Great Ormond Street. Theodore had a very large carvenous haemangioma under his right nostril; another one on his head and various smaller ones over his body. Sister Jane encouraged us to attend the Coram's Field Family Day and it all started from there.
We have been very lucky in that Theodore hasn't had to have any specific treatment for his birthmarks but he will have to undergo plastic surgery at a later date. My whole family are enthusiastic supporters of the BSG and the work that they do. From my own point of view, belonging to and being involved with the Group has been both educational and emotionally rewarding.
